Since Last Week

  1. API Upload
  2. Code Camp Logo Concept
  3. Summah Sale

We added upload functionality to the upcoming OAuth API (above left). (Tristan used the API to upload the announcement of API uploading.) This is one of the last endpoints that we feel is required for a public release. There’s still no official release date, but it’s getting close.

Also last week, our latest Moonlighting, featuring DJ and designer Daniel Hoffmann, hit the blog. (Daniel’s Code Camp Logo Concept above center.) And we kicked off our summer sale at the Equipment Shop. Get 15% off by using the code SUMMAH during checkout.

Welcome Elizabeth and Ian!

Elizabeth BarrElizabeth Barr joined our Team as Support Coach back in July. We subtly introduced her via Timeout, but owe her an official Replay Welcome. Welcome! Elizabeth is a front-end developer and former newspaper editor originally from Buffalo, now living in Greenville, South Carolina, with her husband and daughter. She works for us half-time, so if you’re looking for a good front-end dev, get in touch!

Ian EhlertIan Ehlert became a Dribbble developer yesterday. He’s been working with Ruby on Rails for four-and-a-half years. His web development experience spans everything from front-end CSS to managing databases and spinning up servers. Like Patrick, Ian joins us via Campfire from Minneapolis, though he is moving to Davis, California, in the near future. Ultimate Frisbee Dribbblers from Davis, please hook him up!

Shopify + Dribbble Playoff Results

  1. Design Is Storytelling
  2. Design Is A Sense of Childlike Wonder
  3. Design is a Journey

The Shopify and Dribbble design teams reviewed the 238 entries in the "Design is …" Playoff, judging on creativity, execution, and meaning. Congrats to grand prize winner James Graves, who won for his pop-up book illustration “Design is Storytelling" (above left). Kudos to our runners-up Shauna Lynn Panczyszyn (Design is a Sense of Childlike Wonder, above center) and Zachary Smith (Design is a Journey, above right), and to all our honorable mentions. Shopify’s post on the contest features commentary from Graves, talking about his conceptual process and sharing close-up shots of the winning piece.

Dan, Rich, Patrick and Tristan had an amazing time in San Francisco last week. Thanks first to Dropbox for, in Dan’s words, “one heckuva Meetup!” And to all you crazy SF kids who came out and had fun with us. From the sliders to the PHHHOTOS, we had a blast. Dan even more than the rest of us.

imageSpecial thanks to Dropbox Designers Justin Pervorse, Soleio Cuervo, and Sherry Birk, Dropbox’s Austin recruiting lead. Thanks, too, to our fellow panelists Justin, Dropbox Designers Linda Eliasen and Zach Graham, Dropbox Product Designer Josh Puckett, and panel moderator Ben Blumenfeld, co-director at Designer Fund.Thank you, too, to those of you who welcomed us into your offices or met us out and about in San Francisco. We appreciate the chance to get to know more of you in person.
