New Dribbble Team Members
Our favorite kind of news is new-Dribbblers news, so we’ll lead with Adam and Noah.
Adam Darowski is a product designer who arrives at Dribbble from HubSpot, where he worked on Social Inbox, HubSpot’s social media monitoring and publishing app. Geographically, he arrives from Peterborough, New Hampshire.
Also this month, we welcome our first-ever summer intern, Noah Cederholm! Noah is a junior at Franklin High School. Like all good interns, Noah spends his time doing all the things we don’t want to. JK! He’s already made our lives easier, and we’re grateful to have him.
Infinite Scroll
Last week, we made a dramatic change to browsing on Dribbble, deploying infinite scroll for navigating lists of shots. Infinite scroll is always a controversial technique and we tend to lean traditional around here when it comes to the web, so it’s a big shift for users and for us. Internally, we’ve experimented with various implementations of infinite scroll on and off for over a year, but have never liked the resulting user experience enough to ship.
Recently, we asked developer Ian Ehlert to put his head down on this task and proceeded to bombard him with mountains of feedback and requests for changes and improvements. He persevered and we’re thrilled with the result; it’s now easy to move fast or slow through a list of shots, shots themselves now load faster, attachments are faster and easier to navigate, and getting immersed in the work on a designer’s profile is even more addictive than before.
We appreciate all the feedback we’ve received on this release and are already using it to refine the experience. Thanks, as well, to our small group of beta testers. Infinite scroll is the first of several changes we’ll be making to our core UI, and we’re excited to have the groundwork laid for subsequent improvements.
On the Blog
We took a Timeout with Garrett DeRossett, went to space for Shot Block: Pluto, and highlighted the work of Dribbblers taking part in next month’s Weapons of Mass Creation.
