The design industry lost a titan this week, as designer and illustrator Milton Glaser passed away at the age of 91.
Known for his lush illustration style and for crafting identities for a litany of brands over the last half-century, Glaser co-founded the influential Push Pin Studios in 1954, and later his own practice Milton Glaser, Inc. Glaser also created the iconic I ❤️ NY logo; conceived in 1976, it has become an internationally-recognized emblem of the city, embedded in popular consciousness.
“To design is to communicate clearly by whatever means you can control or master.” — Milton Glaser
