The historic First Shot Ever: Working on the new shop by Dan Cederholm
On July 9, 2009, Dan posted the inaugural shot to Dribbble, sharing with our new community what he was working on. Since then, you’ve shared over 1 million shots of what you’re working on, from in-progress side-projects to rejected logos, from newly launched apps to lettering process shots.
We love to see what you’re working on. Beyond that, we love you. Cheesy? For sure. Also, true.
Over five years, Dribbble has expanded to represent a breadth of skills and depth of talent we couldn’t imagine in the early days. But more importantly to us, as Dribbble grew from its original small village of designers, many of whom knew each other off screen, into a virtual design city with varied neighborhoods, you all continued to support each other’s work and our work. As diversity and numbers have increased, so too have opportunities for finding niches, whether they be professional (letterers, UI folk, comic book cover illustrators, app launchers) or geographic. (From San Francisco to Singapore, more than 3,000 Dribbblers have attended Meetups already this year.)
To be sappy, this is what community is about. This is what Rich and Dan set out to create five years ago. When we look around at all of you today, this is what we celebrate.
