About Moodsearch
Moodsearch is a consumer iOS app for self-reflection and education about mood and the patterns behind it. Users share what is on their mind by text or voice, and the app connects what they share to possible patterns possible patterns from our library from our library reviewed by licensed therapists and creates personal summaries. We have raised nearly $4 million, and the app is live on the App Store.
Moodsearch is educational and self-reflective. It is not medical, clinical, diagnostic, or therapeutic, and the design should never feel like a health service. Credibility comes from craft, clarity, restraint, and care.
About This Role
Moodsearch has reached a point where the direction and structure of the product feel right. We are now investing in the visual layer so the design carries the strength of the idea. We are hiring our first in-house designer focused on visual product design to lead that work.
The initial scope is a focused visual and UI refresh—not a product redesign or a UX rethink. The structure and core flows of the app will remain. Your work will be to elevate the app icon, home screen, onboarding, key product screens, and matching website, then establish a light visual system that extends consistently across the rest of the product.
After the initial refresh, you will continue as the in-house owner of visual quality across new app surfaces, the website, and the evolution of the visual system as Moodsearch grows.
You will partner directly with our CEO, who sets the product’s creative direction and holds a clear vision and a high bar. You will be expected to bring strong ideas and options, articulate your design decisions, respond well to direct and rigorous feedback, and carry the selected direction through to polished, shippable work. You will also collaborate closely with our engineers to ensure that what ships reflects the intended design.
