Biography
Cotton has over 14 years of teaching experience, having taught in Oklahoma, South Carolina, and now Mississippi, where he plays a central role in shaping the direction of USM Graphic Design within the School of Performing and Visual Arts at the University of Southern Mississippi. Cotton’s research in pedagogy has been presented at national conferences, and his creative work has been exhibited in galleries across the nation and in Europe. His success, however, is best illustrated through student outcomes—measured by their employment at design agencies and their continued recognition in national award competitions.
Cotton is an avid hiker and has logged hundreds of miles in the Great Smoky Mountains, the Ozarks and more. When not in the classroom he prefers to be on an adventure whether hiking a new trail or rafting down a river. When not creating for work, he spends much of his time expanding his creative skillset cooking, crocheting, making cheeses, and exploring ceramics.
