Growing the global design community at 24 Dribbble Meetups this April

Dribbble Meetups come in all shapes and sizes and happen in every pocket of the globe. We’re always impressed by the consistent dedication for Dribbblers to come together, get to know one another, share experiences, and learn. This April, hundreds of designers attended 24 Dribbble Meetups around the world!

Join a Dribbble Meetup near you this May in places like Miami, Philly, Boston, Leeds, and more! No meetups happening near you? We’d love to help you get started in hosting your own.

Cape Town, South Africa @ The Watershed

“On the April 4, we braved one of the first wintry evenings of the year to host our 11th Dribbble Meetup. Despite the cold, the Cape Town creative community arrived in force and the event was a smashing success! Our first speaker, Grant Campbell from Okalpha, shared his insights into the challenges of starting a small studio in a highly competitive creative climate - watch here. If you’re also a collector of unique retro toys and gadgets, check out their online shop. We promise you won’t be disappointed!

“Next up was a Q&A with the South African legend, Rob Stokes. Rob is chairman of Red & Yellow, a creative design school with a vision for teaching leaders, inventors, and 21st-century entrepreneurs. With infectious energy and wit, Rob shared his personal journey of nurturing a culture of entrepreneurship and the importance of always allowing yourself the space to explore your creativity.

“We enjoyed the rest of the evening with a glass of wine, a Playoff, and some custom designed treats from Okalpha. The success of the event wouldn’t have been possible without the support of our sponsors, speakers and the great turnout from the Dribbble community. A special mention should also be made to Chris van Rooyen for providing the awesome badge design. Check out more photos of our event on Facebook and Instagram and keep an eye out for our next Meetup later this year!

Mostar, Bosnia and Herzegovina @ SPARK

“This was our first Dribbble Meetup held in Mostar. More than 100 people (mostly designers) showed up. We had three great talks with three totally different design topics (branding, animation, and UI/UX), and guests were really satisfied. The Analog Playoff was also exciting, where few designers tried to sketch six famous logos without searching them on the web or asking for help—it was really fun.

“I must say that we had great sponsors: NSoft, Spark and Sync who supported us technically and financially. We gifted attendees headphones, wireless speakers, and a license for Affinity Photo and Affinity Designer apps.

Tampa, Florida @ The Independent Bar & Cafe

“The second edition of our Dribbble Tampa Meetup was a fantastic get together of local creatives. The meeting was more of a casual drink and draw with fellow Dribbblers networking and getting to know one another over drinks and a shared love of design and comics. Our Analog Playoff challenge was superhero themed in honor of the upcoming release of “Avengers: Endgame”, with the winner taking home a special prize—the Infinity Gauntlet (mug)! Art was swapped, posters and stickers were traded, and the seeds for a community were planted. Ten Dribbblers attended and made the event a great time for everyone involved.”

Sarajevo, Bosnia and Herzegovina @ Ministry of Programming

Vildana Lojo Babic Vildana Lojo Babic Product Design Manager @Booking.com Ex Product Design Lead @Infobip @FiveNYC Passionate about startups, human nature, architecture, and creative coding.

“The design community in Sarajevo is becoming more vibrant and larger every day. The third edition of our Sarajevo Dribbble Meetup was a huge success! Eighty creatives came to learn, discuss, and network about design. This time, our meetup was held at the Ministry of Programming offices—a product and startup oriented company from Bosnia and Herzegovina. Ministry of Programming provided the venue and some of the awards for the best Analog Playoff participants.

“Our main topic for this event was “Product Design with a Focus on Startups” and participants had the opportunity to hear about Product Design, Minimum Viable Design (MVD), and DesignOps from fellow Dribbblers @vikavld @neshill @erolmujak @ridvanshc. All participants were extremely engaged and enjoyed every second of the meetup, presentations, and the Analog Playoff. Sarajevo Dribbble Meetups are organized by the Sarajevo Design community and this event was also supported and co-organized by the Sketch Community in Sarajevo.

Houston, Texas @ Houston Innovation Hub

“Our first ever Houston Dribbble Meetup was an awesome experience, with around 20 people attending. We had a really fun and engaging design challenge (where prizes were awarded to a couple of attendees) and an awesome guest speaker! This event is the first of many to help bolster the small but growing design community here in Houston.

“We are planning to host many more community events in the future. To learn more about all of our future events, shoot us an email at practicemakes.htx@gmail.com so we can add you to our community Slack group, or follow us on Twitter for information about all our upcoming events: @_PracticeMakes.

Coimbatore, India @ Springboard LLP

“The Coimbatore Dribbble Meetup was held on April 13, 2019, at Springboard LLP—a growing design agency in town. We hosted about fifteen designers. We had two speakers with diverse experiences. The speakers shared their experiences in designing scalable applications for mobile, managing clients, motion design, and how businesses are using motion design to their advantage in crafting customer experiences. We had fruitful discussions and the meetup lasted about three hours. We had people attend from different agencies, freelancers, and students.

Tunis, Tunisia @ Berges du Lac

“The meetup was a really awesome gathering of designers. We had a lot of fun talking about the Dribbble community and designers from Tunisia.

Bogota, Colombia @ Platzi HQ

“We had just over 15 people attend this meetup in which we learned a lot about the importance of accessibility in various fields. From color, typography, composition, and sound, we talked about all the good practices to design, well, for everyone.

“We then had an additional talk which was about the laws of UX. We learned how to pay attention to the small details that make great products. Things like the size of buttons, compositions, speed of entry, etc.

Vesna, Khazakistan @ Artxayc
