In March, almost 800 Dribbblers attended 18 meetups in 7 countries. Whether it’s ten folks meeting up for a couple of beers, or two hundred designers filling an event space to watch top-notch speakers, Dribbble Meetups are an amazing thing. We’re so grateful for our community and their enthusiasm to expand their networks in their areas. Next month we get to have a little taste of this face-to-face action during Hang Time Seattle! Join us there if you’re able and meet the whole Dribbble team.
It’s not too late to join a Dribbble Meetup near you in April in places like Wroclaw, Rivne, Sydney, London, Ahmedebad, and more. Or, perhaps you’re ready to host your own Dribbble Meetup and help grow the community in your area!
Calicut, India @ Cyberpark Calicut
“The first Calicut Dribbble meet up was awesome. We had twenty seven wild minds who have a passion for creativity, and most of them were attending their first ever design meetup.
Our primary focus was facilitating networking and mingling between designers inside the park, strategizing on how to achieve and maintain the highest design quality we can on Dribbble. But in contradiction to my expectations, rather than having confined vision of developing the design world within this platform, many were thinking bigger on how to carry it out to a wider canvas, doing good and charitable work in the world through colors and text. The ideas we all discussed are very exciting, and I am looking forward to working on them to make an impact in the near future.”
Sydney, Austrailia @ Academy XI
“We hosted a meetup for Sydney-based designers and Dribbble enthusiasts to share resources, designs, and useful information, and about two hundred people came! The theme for this meetup was, “Why your team needs UX / IX writers.” Speakers Alex Schwarz (UX copywriter at Airtasker) and Kevin Bui (Technical and IX Writer at Atlassian) talked about the importance of UX / IX writing, the hype around it, and the real impact it has on creating products.
Thank you to our sponsors: AcademyXi for hosting and providing food, and of course Dribbble for the sweet swag and hosting our RSVP page.”
Montevideo, Uruguay @ Sinergia Palermo
“Hosting this Dribbble meetup was amazing, a challenge that resulted in a great, full-room meetup, with three amazing talks and very good vibes. I’m looking forward to growing the design community in Montevideo, and to learning from amazing designers in future Dribbble meetups!”
Tokyo, Japan
“We had a great meet up in Tokyo this March. About ten members came and a few other local artists stopped by to join us and talk shop—not huge in number, but huge in spirit. Everyone enjoyed getting to connect, show off some work, and possibly even find opportunities to collaborate. There was a lot of bilingual designer fun to be had over drinks and snacks. Amazingly, everyone was standing up mingling for two and half solid hours! We’ll definitely be doing it again in May, so look for that! Thanks to all those that came and contributed.”
Orlando, Florida
“This was our first Dribbble Meetup of the year! Kyle Hyams talked to us about how passion projects fit into a busy lifestyle, and how his Fifty Two Layouts project helped him push himself further with Layout Design.
Check out our Facebook Group Photos and see some of these moments! Stay in touch with our community by following us on Twitter, participating in our yearly survey, and joining our #dribbble channel on Slack at orlandodesigners.info. Let us know what you’re working on by tagging #DribbbleOrlando, and see you at the next Meetup!
Your host, Daissy.”
Pampanga, Phillippines
“Our meetup was a success. We invited some local designers INDU (Jed Lalu) to talk about the struggles and hardships before his clothing brand became popular. Also, he shared how he started his business including all the things you need to consider to start a print business and clothing brand. We also invited JP Deguzman from Manila, CEO of Rain Creative Labs, who work with several huge brands and companies. He spoke on value and on pricing our work as designers.
We want to thank the local and international designers who attended, and all the companies who lent a hand to support us. Wear Kapampangan, INDU, CloudStaff, Design Pickle, Sketch, Twisted Bulb, John Drich, Huion, Picture Books, Professional Virtual Assistants, and of course Dribbble.”
Louisville, Kentucky
“This Dribbble Meetup was a part of our regular meet ups that we have through our collective known as CULT: the Creative Union of Louisville Trades. This month we wanted to bring the Dribbble community into it to reach some even more designers. The location was Akasha Brewing in downtown Louisville. We had around thirty people show up to hang out, drink beers, and of course talk shop! We had a few people drive for over an hour to come for their first hangout with the community. I appreciate the help we received from Dribbble!”
Colombo, Sri Lanka
“I’m more than happy to say that Sri Lanka’s First ever Dribbble Meetup More successful than we expected. When planning, I called out for sponsorships around a few well-known companies in the design industry, and we got way more results than we expected! Everyone loves Dribbble. Sticker Mule sponsored us for our custom event stickers, Sketch sponsored us by giving three free sketch app license for giveaways, and Sri Lanka’s largest telecommunication company gave their auditorium to host our meetup for free! Also, a local company called Ceylon Devs helped us by providing tasty snacks and drinks to all the hungry and thirsty attendees. We had 142 RSVPs, and 112 people made it to the event!
