Kathmandu, Nepal @ Moksh Bar
“The Kathmandu Dribble Meetup was held on 13th August 2017 at Moksh Bar, Jhamsikhel. Organized by Namaste Kathmandu, the event hosted national and international speakers from the design and retail sector who shared their experiences of working in the creative field.
The speakers in the program were Nirvana Lama, UI/UX Designer at HoneyGuide Apps, who shared her UX experience. Subash Dharal, UI/UX Designer shared his experience of working with Toptal, and the importance of having a good portfolio on Dribbble. Nishant Shrestha, Managing Director of Avid Partner, presented on urban retail-planning, design, and management. He also discussed the new ventures coming into Nepal, and how Nepali businesses have been expanding globally. Presentation of Shweta Gulati, Freelance Photographer, and visual storyteller and a former Software Developer at eBay, was focused on how visual stories can help give a message and connect to people. Bidhan Rajbhandari, Managing Director at MAKEWAYS Ad Agency shared ideas on how designers can approach and deal with clients effectively in order to get recognized as distinguished designers.
The event was sponsored by Toptal, Softwarica College, Merojobs, Arna Beer, and Cheers.”
Mexico City @ Centraal
“Twenty design enthusiasts got together for the August edition of the Mexico City Dribbble Meetups. The topic was “Data Visualization: More Than Designing Graphics”. Gerardo Rodriguez, a UX designer and data designer whom we met during our very first Meetup, walked us through the steps towards designing awesome Data visualizations, the importance of storytelling, and the strict process data visualizations follow to be effective.
After the talk, we had a great discussion about Dataviz, with topics such as the Ethics behind displaying information, the challenge of being objective, the opportunity AI has in the field, and overall the UX challenges that designers need to tackle in order to make data legible, understandable and simple.
As always, the folks over at Centraal were gracious enough to treat us to some cold beers and some delicious pizza and snacks.”
West Palm Beach, Florida @ Palm Beach Tech
“From a former tattoo artist to the guy who designed the Microsoft Office icons, we had a skilled and eclectic crowd of all skill levels. The Analog challenge tested wits while our playing card redesign made new friends.
Keely Mann and Steve Shreve were key players in making the shindig happen while Palm Beach Tech sponsored the beer.”
Pampagna, Philippines @ Cloud Staft SM Clark Office
“Our Pampanga Dribbble Meetup was a success! We were worried because of a typhoon that hit, but it still didn’t stop designers from joining us. Thanks to Dribbble for their support!
We are already planning to have another event in December, and are talking about our topic for focus.”
Jalandhar, India @ Modern Estate
“Our first ever Dribbble Meetup was great! Everyone had great ideas and we had a number of wonderful questions from the audience, and resulting discussions were both insightful and enjoyable. This was a great opportunity to meet the faces behind the profiles and talk about design and the community. We really hope to collaborate with Dribbble again next time.”
Gurgaon, India @ Investopad
“The Gurgaon Dribbble Meetup went amazingly well. We had around 300+ RSVPs and we got a amazing turn out of 120+ designers. We (1THING) had a tremendous evening with the community. Some ups and downs, but we hope to schedule another one pretty soon.
It was great to see a lot of designers — experienced as well as young talent standing up and trading stories and advice for the rest of the community. We would like to thank Dribbble and everyone that got the spirit to come hang with us. Thank you to the speakers and everyone else that helped put the event together.”
