Who are you?

My name is Inga Hampton. I’m a nineteen year old designer born and bred in Northern Ireland. I am currently studying for a degree in Interaction Design at the Belfast School of Art. As well as being a student I am also a freelance designer and illustrator. I also like to dip my toes in motion design using After Effects.

What are you working on?

At the moment I am focusing on university work, but I am trying to build my motion and illustration skills by creating various landscapes and scenes, trying to portray a certain mood and atmosphere in each concept using various colour tones. I’m hoping to build my skills so that I can create a short film or have a crack at Unity, as I would really love to go into more of the game side of things.

I am also working along side two up-and-coming companies in Belfast, CoffeeBox Games and Clinishare.

Choose a favorite shot of yours. Why is it a favorite?

I’d say my recent shot ‘Dawn’ would be my favourite so far as I’m starting to get more into motion design. But I would love to take this shot further and have a lot more movement, so that might be a little project in the upcoming future.

Tell us about your setup. What tools did you use to create the shot (e.g. hardware, software, pens, paper, blowtorch)?

I currently work from my home, where I have my little workspace. which consists of my Macbook Pro and 27” Dell monitor I also have a large amount of sketch books filled with random doodles of ideas. Usually my workspace is never this clean as I create a complete mess when an idea comes to mind. My creative process would depend on what I am doing but it almost always start on paper. I then move from paper to Illustrator, Photoshop, After Effects or a text editor.
