Blown away by the chrome and cs6 icons that Matt Rossi has created. He inspired me to make my own and start using these in osx. All colors are inspired by his palette.
Next thing to tackle: Square chrome, mail, calendar, finder, itunes, and steam icons to complete my dock.

Dude, download links. I strongly prefer yours to his.
I will definitely post the files when I am finished @Matthew Miller
@Alexander Schultz really nice work man, I prefer yours too :)
Would be awesome to have an entire dock of these. I'm honestly surprised that Apple hasn't instituted design parameters for app icons on the desktop like they do for iOS.

@Evan Stremke Yeah, I thought about that last night when I was making these.
Almost done, but I ran into trouble with customizing ical. It keeps displaying the current date over my icon.
Keep me posted if/when you decide to make these available to the public–– I'd totally use them for my own dock!
Will do, @Garrett DeRossett
I would definetely use these when it's done! they fit the new Windows UI perfectly with the flat colors!
never understood why mac has to be so shiny, they definetely need to update their UI!
@Daniel Keller Yeah, I completely agree. I'm a huge fan of the new windows ui. I never really liked Apples shiny stuff or the faux-real UI. It's definitely a dated look and I hope they step it up with the next os. Just enough is more. I'll make sure to alert you along with everyone else once I release the file.
in what kind of size & format do you create these?
I'd like to have icons for 3dsmax & Blender
so I'd give it a try if it's ok, or not if you'd rather like to do it.
so these could be included in that pack for all the 3d & motion designers/animators among us. (used blender myself too)
problem with that, you'd probably have to include all other major programs. (zbrush, modo, maya, C4D)
@Daniel Keller The icons themselves are vector format as of now so they can be any size you want them to be. I will be including an AI file, a layered psd and the icon files themselves for use in OS.
The layered psd file will contain icons sized at 512x512 (with a bit of breathing room), this works the best for os and that is the size I am currently using for the icons in my dock on my personal machine.
When I get some time I wil defintely take a crack at those animation/3d programs as well. I will try to get these up for everyone by Friday.

Free set is finally released, see attached for download!
All source files are included in the attached zip, but due to size constraints the psd is separate. That can be downloaded here:
Also quick threw together a desktop background to accompany the icon set.
This is version 1.0, I will be making more icons at some point. Follow me on twitter @schultzaw to receive updates on the icon set.
