And the Band Begins to Play [WIP]

Ok, but seriously I think this is the final one I am working on before I start sending out my new illustration portfolio. Truthfully I think I spent more time on this piece than any illustration I have done to date. My process involves recreating the image 3 times.

This piece comes from deep in my heart from my band-nerd days. I totally played the saxophone. Actually I was never in a marching band - I went to one day of marching band, and they were making people do pushups for messing up (I never went back). But I have a deep love for music, and instruments (I play a number of them), and I have always thought there was something so whimsical and magical about a little band in matching uniforms, marching along playing a little ditty.
