The powers-that-be behind the 101X station decided it was time for a change from the 19-year-old grungy 90s logo. I'll admit that It was a little daunting to work on a brand that has such an established footprint in the Austin community.
Since the station has moved more towards playing pop and folky music, it was decided that the logo also needed to move away from the grunge look. A seal of some sort to reflect what other modern stations have been doing was the desired look, while keeping the iconic red "X". After a couple of rounds of work and feedback, this was the resulting mark. We unveiled at SXSW this year.
