Shopping Experience Exploration

(Reposting this because small images don't work well on Dribbble anymore.)

Hi Dribbblers! Here’s a small Shopping Experience Exploration I did that got me an internship opportunity at @Label A :)

For my fellow design students and anyone else interested: below’s a summary of my process and a link to download my sketch file for reference.

So my assignment was to design three screens of a shopping experience for any shop: An overview of products, a product card and a shopping cart.

To give it a bit more context, I started with a little research on what online shopping apps people like. During these interviews, I discovered that some people actually prefer searching through multiple stores at once when looking for something specific. I recognized this problem myself, mostly when looking for furniture. Sometimes you just have that perfect item in mind and you don’t care that much about where it’s from. So then searching individual stores can be tedious and time-consuming. You just want it to work with what’s already in your home!

That’s when I decided to make a design aimed at this need: an app that enables the user to search through multiple furniture shops at the same time.

In these screens, for example, the user is looking for a yellow armchair.

After sketching down some ideas, I came to the following criteria that my design should live up to:
- The app should help users find furniture with specific criteria. A filter option enables that. Important filters could be: Color and material. (Categories are shown in a previous screen).
- The user can manage their own shopping cart by removing items or choose an amount.
- The user can save products for later. This can be solved with a ‘Wishlist’.
- The app should be simple and clear for users. This can be achieved by using familiar elements from apps that they know, and by sorting content on relevance for the user.

After collecting a bunch of yellow chairs (which are secretly mainly from Ikea) I designed the three screens in Sketch.
