About this Service

UITOP designs mobile inventory workflows for teams handling stock on the warehouse floor. A scan should identify the right item or location and give the worker enough information to complete the current task. We design the steps between a recognized code and an inventory action the system can confirm.
The starting engagement covers one selected task in your existing inventory product or prototype. It could be receiving against an expected order, counting stock at a bin, or transferring an item between locations. We agree which task matters first, review your item and location records, then design the mobile journey around your scanning devices and stock rules.
When This Service Fits
A worker scans a code but cannot tell which item, package or location the app recognized.
Quantity and unit are unclear when an item is stored or moved in packs, cases or individual pieces.
The source and destination of a transfer are hard to check before confirmation.
A wrong-location scan or quantity difference appears as a generic error after the task is submitted.
Your desktop inventory system holds the stock records, while the mobile task needs a clear path for people working beside the shelves.
What Your Team Receives
Review of the chosen warehouse task, current product, item data and device conditions.
A map of the scan, verification, quantity and confirmation steps.
UX/UI for the agreed mobile or handheld screens in that task.
States for an unmatched code, wrong item or location, duplicate scan and quantity mismatch where relevant.
The appropriate pending, completed and failed states based on your stock transaction rules.
Reusable patterns for scan feedback, item identity, bin context, units and action summaries.
A clickable or functional prototype using representative warehouse records.
Interaction notes and a walkthrough with warehouse, product and engineering stakeholders.
We define the selected device, records, user role and action before design begins. Scanner integration, inventory transaction processing, offline synchronization and mobile development require their own technical scope.
Confirm What the Scan Found
An item barcode and a location barcode can move a task in different directions. We establish which codes your product recognizes, what the worker expects at each step and how the app shows the result. An item name alone may be insufficient if the same SKU exists in several bins or packaging units.
We design the relevant identity and location details for your task. If a code has no match or belongs to the wrong bin, the message should identify the problem and keep the worker in a useful position to try again. Your warehouse and engineering teams verify the matching rules.
Review the Stock Action Before It Changes a Record
For a transfer, the worker needs to see the source, destination, item, unit and quantity together before submitting. For receiving or counting, the corresponding review may compare expected and observed quantities. We use your operation's task and data model.
The design distinguishes a submitted action from a confirmed stock change when your product processes them at different times. If approval or a second scan is required, we map that state and the next responsible role. The product's stock calculation and authorization rules remain with your system.
Design for the Device in Use
A phone camera and a dedicated handheld can impose different interaction constraints. We review screen size, scan frequency, physical controls, gloves, lighting and connectivity with your team. Then we choose the input and feedback patterns that suit the agreed device.
If the task must work offline, we document which records can be available locally and which action remains pending until synchronization. Those states need confirmation from the engineering team. A prototype may simulate scanning or sync; we identify the simulation during review.
Work With Your Warehouse Team
We review sample SKUs, units, warehouse and bin structures, barcode formats and the existing desktop workflow. A warehouse specialist walks us through the physical task, including the common mistakes and recovery steps. Product and engineering confirm what the current system records and when its status changes.
Our designer can work directly in your prototype, create a functional artifact in Claude or another agreed tool, or prepare Figma files. We deliver the chosen screens, reusable patterns and behavior notes in the format your developers use.
Relevant UITOP Work
UITOP designed and developed LogiCore, a logistics and warehouse platform connecting SKU and inventory records across warehouse locations. That work gives our team direct experience with the item, location and stock information a mobile task would need to use.
We have also explored mobile barcode scanning and stock transfers in published UX concepts. Those screens show our design approach; they are not a claim that scanning or transfers were implemented in LogiCore. Your product's real inventory rules and device setup determine the design we create for you.
Review the Task at the Point of Work
We walk through a representative stock action with your team, from the first scan to the state recorded by the product. The review covers the chosen main path and the mismatches that matter most to your warehouse. Open questions about scanner behavior, stock logic or sync are documented for the people building the system.
