Gym Member Booking App UX Design

About this Service

The displayed price and timeline are indicative, based on our experience with comparable projects. We discuss the scope, final cost and delivery schedule for each project individually.

UITOP designs mobile booking experiences for gym and fitness studio members. A class may look available, yet a member's plan, remaining credits or payment state can affect whether they can reserve it. We design the journey from choosing a class to understanding whether the booking is confirmed and what to do next.

The starting engagement covers one member-facing booking flow in your existing app or prototype. We review your class inventory, membership rules, payment requirements and current product states with the people who own them. The agreed rules shape the screens and interactions we design.

When This Service Fits

  • Members see a class but cannot tell whether their current plan covers it.

  • A booking button leads to a generic error when the class is full, a credit is unavailable or a payment needs attention.

  • The app shows a reservation as confirmed before the booking system returns its final state.

  • Members must leave the class context to inspect or update a payment method.

  • Your studio platform has an admin schedule, but its member app needs a focused booking experience.

What Your Team Receives

  • Review of the selected booking journey, membership rules and existing app screens.

  • A map of the class, slot, member eligibility and booking states included in scope.

  • Mobile UX/UI for the agreed class discovery, detail, eligibility, confirmation and exception screens.

  • A clear response for full classes, plan restrictions and payment issues that your system supports.

  • Loading, pending, failed and confirmed states tied to your product's actual responses.

  • Reusable mobile patterns for class cards, plan messages, payment selection and booking status.

  • A clickable or functional prototype using representative member scenarios.

  • Interaction notes and a walkthrough with product and engineering.

We agree the classes, plans, payment paths and actions included in the first phase. Scheduling engines, charging logic, waitlist automation and mobile app development are separate scopes.

Make Eligibility Visible Before the Final Action

A member needs enough information to choose the right class: time, location, instructor, duration and availability where your product provides them. We then show what their plan permits for the selected slot. If credits, class packs or membership tiers affect access, we define the message and available action for each relevant rule.

Your team supplies the plan logic and the source of the current availability. We use those definitions in the selected mobile screens. A changed capacity or plan state needs a response that tells the member what happened and which option is still available.

Separate a Booking Attempt From Confirmation

We map what occurs after a member taps the final booking action. The app may be waiting for a booking response, a payment step or a plan check. The confirmation screen should reflect the state your system has established and show the class details the member needs afterward.

If a booking fails or a class becomes unavailable during the attempt, we define the next action supported by your product. That may mean choosing another session, reviewing the membership or returning to the class list. The interface should retain the member's context as they make that choice.

Keep Payment in the Booking Context

When a payment method or additional purchase is required, we design how that step appears during the selected journey. The member should see what is being purchased or authorized, the relevant amount supplied by your system, and the booking state after the payment response.

We review the labels and states with your product and payment teams. The design does not set membership prices, charge a card or decide whether a payment succeeded. Those outcomes come from your existing systems and the integrations included in your product.

Work With Your Product Team

We review your member app, admin schedule, sample memberships, class rules and API responses. Product and operations stakeholders confirm the booking behavior; engineering checks which responses and components are available. We test the design with representative members and scenarios from the agreed scope.

Our designer can work directly in your current prototype, create a functional artifact in Claude or another agreed tool, or prepare Figma files. We deliver components and behavior notes in the format your developers use. Simulated capacity or payment states in a prototype are identified for review.

Relevant UITOP Work

UITOP worked on AirClub, a gym-management platform for fitness and wellness studios. Its published mobile designs cover member booking and payment situations, including unavailable appointments, plan restrictions and saved or new payment methods. The wider AirClub project also included the operational class schedule and membership records used by staff.

That combination helps us examine how a member action should relate to the studio's working system. For your product, we use your actual class, membership and payment rules to define the chosen mobile flow.

Review the Booking Journey

We walk through the main booking path and the exceptions your team selects: a full class, an ineligible plan, a payment step and a changed result. The review checks what the member sees before committing, which state appears after the response and whether they can find the reservation later.
