NA ONLY | Contract-Based UI/UX Re-Design
Help Redesign the Pokémon Go of Food Discovery
Remote (North America Only) | Contract-Based | Apply by Sending Work, Not Words
TORO is a next-gen food discovery app where users don’t rate restaurants — they rate dishes. Think of it as your personal Pokédex of food. Instead of “5 stars for this sushi spot,” we ask: How was the tuna tartare?
We’re redesigning the app to feel less like social media and more like a game — fun, interactive, weird, and alive. Less Instagram scroll, more Animal Crossing + Apple’s Liquid Glass. We want every user interaction to feel like a collectible moment or an XP boost — not just a review.
What We’re Looking For
We want a North America-based designer with a track record of building playful, system-level UI/UX — someone who gets games, personality-driven experiences, and the joy of food.
Your mission: Redesign TORO to be:
More a food discovery game, not just a restaurant review app
A 3D, glassmorphic, micro-interaction-filled world
A playful experience where every dish is a new level, badge, or unlockable
As intuitive and delightful as it is strange and fun
We’re Inspired By:
The idea of a food Pokédex
Apple’s Liquid Glass aesthetic
Gamified UX and lush micro-interactions
-
Systems that let us build:
Taste profile matching ("palette DNA")
Signature dish identity badges
Food-based friend matchmaking
Reservation + delivery integrations
What You Must Do to Apply
DO NOT send a resume.
DO NOT send us AI-generated emails or designs — we’ll know, and we’ll delete them.
INSTEAD, show us:
Examples of work that are directly relevant to what we’re building
Even better: a reimagining of our app design based on this past Figma version: https://www.figma.com/design/1ANjLL8PljJcfLtHhrgrAv/Toro-for-Dribbble?node-id=0-1&p=f&t=vN9CWw8EILFRPsi0-0
We won't be able to reuse these exact designs — this is an old version — but your take on it is the #1 thing we’ll look at to see if your vision aligns with ours.
Compensation
We’re pre-revenue and gearing up for fundraising. No set budget, but we’re open to creative structures — including equity — for the right partner.
If this sounds like your kind of weird — show us, don’t tell us.
