TORO UI/UX Redesign — Call for Designers Who Think in Taste, Texture, and Glass
🧠 Remote | Contract | Contact to Apply
TORO is a next-gen food discovery app that flips the script: We don’t rate restaurants — we rate dishes. We’re building a playful, visually-rich platform where users track exactly what they ate, not just where they ate it.
We’re now seeking a complete UI/UX redesign — and we’re going all in on iOS 26’s glass morphism aesthetic (think: frosted glass, depth layering, subtle motion, and high-touch surfaces).
🍽 What We’re Building
Imagine a food app that feels like a game, not a grid of menus. Something that invites people to level up their palate — not just leave a star rating.
We’re redesigning TORO to feel more immersive, more dynamic, and more fun to use than any food app out there.
Key design pillars:
Full iOS 26-style glass morphism UI — layered depth, blur, transparency, and subtle animation
A Signature Dish section on every user’s profile — a visual, shareable display of their most-loved meal
A “Bites” Map that shows local dishes instead of restaurants, like a heatmap of the best bites around
Feed-style social interactions: swipeable, tappable, scroll-stopping
Game-inspired UX — unlocking badges, building taste profiles, and more
🧪 Who We're Looking For
We want a UI/UX designer (or small team) who:
Thinks like an artist and designs like an engineer
Has strong experience with Apple’s latest UI design language, especially iOS 26 visual styles
Loves pushing boundaries in app interfaces — not just solving problems, but making people say "damn"
Can work with our existing UX wireframes (built in Figma), but isn’t afraid to break the mold
🧊 The Aesthetic
TORO should look and feel like:
Apple’s “Liquid Glass” demo meets Zelda’s reward screen
A blend of elegance and play — transparency, light refractions, touchable layers
Something you’d want to open 5 times a day, just to tap around
💰 Compensation
We’re pre-revenue, early launch, and beginning our fundraising process. We’re open to a mix of:
Competitive freelance rate for contract work
Equity options for designers who want to play a deeper role in TORO’s growth
What You Must Do to Apply
DO NOT send a resume.
DO NOT send us AI-generated emails or designs — we’ll know, and we’ll delete them.
INSTEAD, show us:
Examples of work that are directly relevant to what we’re building
Even better: a reimagining of our app design based on this past Figma version: https://www.figma.com/design/1ANjLL8PljJcfLtHhrgrAv/Toro-for-Dribbble?node-id=0-1&p=f&t=vN9CWw8EILFRPsi0-0
We won't be able to reuse these exact designs — this is an old version — but your take on it is the #1 thing we’ll look at to see if your vision aligns with ours.
Compensation
We’re pre-revenue and gearing up for fundraising. No set budget, but we’re open to creative structures — including equity — for the right partner.
If this sounds like your kind of weird — show us, don’t tell us.
