Graphic Designer

Description

You’re an experienced, web-savvy graphic designer with a deep knowledge of UX best practices. You can expertly drive a project from discovery through delivery in a highly collaborative, iterative, human-centered design process. You like to work on a variety of visual challenges including web design, interactive tools, infographics, traditional print, motion graphics, and more. You thrive in a fast-paced environment and enjoy collaborating across disciplines with a variety of personalities. You’re passionate about making health information easier to understand and use.

Responsibilities

  • Own the design of communication products within a multi-disciplinary team, and send out deliverables on time and in budget
  • Create visual solutions across a spectrum of mediums and audiences
  • Support review and feedback sessions for designs
  • Understand, confirm, and implement design feedback successfully
  • Develop accessible and functional web products that follow best practices in human-centered design
  • Drive ingenuity and bring new solutions to the table
  • Seek out user testing recommendations and integrate them into designs
  • Write clear, concise rationale for both internal and client-facing deliverables
  • Perform environmental and inspirational scans to inform design direction and set client expectations

Requirements

  • BA in Graphic Design or related field
  • Minimum 5 years professional experience
  • Expert knowledge of Adobe Creative Suite
  • Familiar with the Microsoft Office Suite
  • Experience with website design, including but not limited to: wireframing, mock-ups, and basic front-end coding (CSS, HTML)
  • Understand the importance of UX and UX best practices
  • Strong communication skills
  • Great attention to detail

Preferred

  • Proficient using web development software such as Sketch, Figma, or Invision Studio
  • Eye for typography and traditional page layout
  • Strong illustration and visual problem-solving skills
  • Familiar with federal usability standards (508c)
  • Experience developing materials for audiences with limited literacy skills
  • Experience working with writers, editors, UX professionals, researchers, and web developers
  • Familiar with web site development lifecycle and documentation
  • Familiar with public health, health education, and health communication
  • Solid working knowledge of common operating systems and software including iOS for Mac.
  • Comfort working in a digital workflow, especially digital project management and collaboration tools like video conferencing
