Game Illustrator and Animator

Founded in 2013, MarcoPolo Learning is an award-winning producer of educational media and curriculum for schools and home learning. 

Our flagship product, MarcoPolo World School, is an Emmy-nominated, KidScreen award-winning STEAM + literacy learning program available on iOS and Android that features a robust library of over 500 video lessons and thousands of learning activities for children ages 3-7.  

For schools, MarcoPolo for Educators provides teachers with the largest catalog of educator designed video adventures, educator guides and classroom materials and uniquely builds family engagement with its classroom-to-home technology. 

The Role:

MarcoPolo Learning seeks a passionate, experienced, and collaborative Gameplay Illustrator and Animator. Working closely with our product and engineering leads, you will be helping us create delightful educational games for preschoolers, illustrating and animating in-game characters and environments that puts smiles on children’s faces. This is a remote contract position, though the ability to meet with our team members across EST and PST is required. 

What You’ll Do: 

• In collaboration with Product and Design, ideate and illustrate game assets that support curriculum, while adding playfulness. These assets will be produced in illustrator and exported as PNG.

• Create animated backgrounds for games that bring our environments to life! The backgrounds need to capture our style, but also need to contrast appropriately with their associated foreground items. These assets will be produced in Adobe Illustrator and exported as PNG.

• Work closely with engineering to hand your assets and animations off to a Unity engineer for ingest into our Unity products.

You Should Have: 

• Proven experience as a 2D Illustrator in industry-standard illustration software (e.g., Adobe Illustrator, Photoshop)

• Experience with Spine or Unity Skeletal animation or experience with spritesheet animation

• Strong conceptual and creative thinking skills

• Excellent communication and collaboration skills
