UX/UI Designer

Created by the original editors of SparkNotes, LitCharts is a literary resource that takes an entirely new approach to analyzing and explaining literature. Millions of students, teachers, and book lovers around the world use the LitCharts website every month. We are looking for a full-time UX/UI designer to lead our design work.

What you’ll be doing:

  • Creating designs of existing and new LitCharts products and features on our website and in our mobile apps
  • Creating and maintaining all visual design-related assets, including a brand style guide
  • Collaborating with marketing to develop materials for social media and email marketing
  • Developing and executing concepts for seasonal or special promotions

Required skills and experience:

  • Extensive expertise in visual design and UX for web and mobile apps
  • Ability to develop designs based on detailed design specs
  • Excitement about working directly with our product and UX team members on an iterative design process with multiple rounds of feedback
  • Experience presenting testable prototypes in InVision or similar tools, and then collecting feedback and iterating on it
  • Fluency with industry standard tools like Photoshop, Sketch, Illustrator and so on.
  • A positive attitude and experience working on a small all-remote team

Not required but nice to have:

  • Experience with front-end development for desktop and mobile web (HTML, CSS, JS)
  • Front-end development experience in Ruby on Rails (haml, scss)
  • Illustration skills, for creating custom illustrations and branding elements
  • Experience with graphic design for social media marketing
  • Experience designing and testing subscription and sign up flows
  • A passion for books, reading, education-related web services
