Director of Digital Growth

We are a fast-growing team of passionate coffee lovers who are fanatically committed to building the best coffee company in America! We source globally, roast in Washington DC, and build inviting and beautiful cafés that become focal points of the communities they serve. 

We are looking for an experienced e-commerce professional to join our team as Director of Digital Growth. The opportunity for the person in this role is to build Compass' online presence into one that captures the magic of the café experience. You will do this by leveraging all of our digital channels - primarily our ecommerce store, email list, and existing rewards and loyalty programs - to promote customer engagement online, acquire new customers, and drive customer lifetime value through creative digital marketing strategies. 

This role reports directly to the Design Director and works alongside the Director of Marketing and CFO to define, execute, and measure a diverse range of DTC ecommerce customer acquisition and retention strategies - subscription, referral, and a la carte, to name just a few.

Key responsibilities:

  • End-to-end ownership of Compass' digital growth strategy and all digital platforms and assets.
  • Conceive of and execute digital marketing initiatives that incorporate web, social, and email; all with the goal of driving engagement with Compass' growing ecommerce brand. 
  • Develop and execute product digital launch plans for new products and new markets. Own and optimize the resources - internal and paid external - to make your plan a reality.
  • Continually review and analyze data and provide actionable strategic recommendations based on your observations. 
  • Act as a leader for your team and within Compass broadly to challenge and inspire your colleagues and drive results. Build and maintain a high-functioning internal team. 
  • Maintain daily and weekly dashboards. Proactively identifies traffic trends, abandonment issues and opportunities for improving site conversion rates.
  • Apply high-level understanding of back-end functionality, inventory, merchandising, and marketing planning to Compass' ecommerce platform.
  • Set measurable goals for Compass' digital marketing campaigns - plan, measure, optimize, report, and repeat. 


  • 4+ years in digital marketing with a proven track record of impactful work with amazing brands. 
  • Exceptional knowledge of digital marketing strategies (SEO, CRO, content, social) is a must.
  • Experienced user of Google analytics for data analysis and optimization.
  • A practical and working fluency in digital media communications best practices.
  • You are a capable and inquisitive strategic thinker with a deep commitment to creating an amazing digital experience for our customers.
  • And of course, you love coffee.
