You want to avoid any data leak from your app right? Therefore I was asking for strong passwords. I'd say that providing a hint about what password policy and show which rule was already satisfied is much better than just show some red bar with the label "password is weak".
But on the other hand, with the hint approach, you are revealing the password pattern so potential hacker already knows which parameters need to be used for hacking it. Overall I decided to go with better UX which is critical especially when the user is evaluating your product. What you would use?
