His backstory:

Charles Bates was the only son of his once wealthy and well respected parents, Cindy and Dalton Bates. The family was known for being great leaders and having many great lines of successful businessmen and politicians in England throughout the 1800's. They were also known for having exceptional hair.

When Charles was only a baby, there was an uprising from the English lower class which resulted in series of assassination attacks on government buildings. In one particular attack, his father was trapped inside and burning building and did not make it out alive.

His mother feared that the attacks would continue and that her and Charles might be in danger.They fled the city to he countryside to live a simple life in a one room cabin on the edge of a forest.

In that cabin they lived without much incident for 8 years. Charles would often play outside and in the forest. There his mother also discovered Charles was a musical prodigy. He had a beautiful singing voice, could play nearly any instrument, and loved classical music.

One day Charles left the house to play in the forest as usual, but that evening he never returned.

He was taken by an old forest wanderer deep in the woods who captured people to perform terrible physical experiments in attempt to improve some of their physical attributes.

While he was performing these experiments, he felt it was unfortunate for his research that his subjects usually died when he would do extreme things that disfigured the human body.

Charles was the exception. Even after Charles had his jaw replaced with a bear trap, his face completely disfigured and replaced with various metal sheets., he remained alive and his will was never broken. Finally, Charles had be forced to drink a chemical that completely changed the makeup of his stomach. This left Charles with a hunger that could not EVER be satisfied. It also allowed him to consume ANYTHING and turn it into exceptional strength and energy.

This means Charles could eat through dirt, concrete, wood, rock, ANYTHING, Curious enough, Charles found that everytime he ate something he could take on some of that element's properties.

One day Charles awoke in the middle of the forest and his captor was nowhere to be found. Just like that he was free to go.

Upon leaving the forest 10 years later Charles was completely disfigured, bald, frail, and constantly hungry. As he looks around he realizes England is not the same place he knew it to be. The government has been completely overthrown and gangs and militias are creating chaos. His mothers cabin has been burnt down and she is nowhere to be found.

Charles must now embark on a quest to find his mother and in the process, could find himself on a path to restore order to England, living up to the Bates family name in a most unexpected fashion.
