Rebus Magazine

After creating a typeface, we were to create a magazine cover based off of our new typeface.

The geometric angles reminded me of puzzles and building blocks. It made me think of a specific type of puzzle I did as a child called a Tangram and the infamous Rubix cube.

For ideas for the cover I researched the history of the rubix cube, brain puzzles, and Where's Waldo. The last Rubix Cube World Championship was held in Brazil in 2015, which determined my date. I also included Waldo, as 'he' recently celebrated his 30th Anniversary in 2017.
