The Age of Grandeur

This page from our calendar design showcases the Muhaqqaq Arabic calligraphy style which is a well defined script characterised by a striking balance between tall vertical ascenders and shallow horizontal scythe-like strokes. This 14th century example written by Ahmad ibn al-Suhrawardi, was illuminated by the renowned Muhammad ibn Aybak to create one of the most splendid Qurans ever for the Ilkhanid rulers.
