D for Dragon

I created this papercut dragon as part of the PAC Alphabet Challenge (an open call by the Paper Artist Collective). The brief was to create a letter with paper using three colours only.

Having worked on light and bright colour palettes in the recent past, I wanted to use a dark colour scheme. The elements and style in this artwork are derived from oriental illustrations, with the use of paper giving them a different twist.

The entire artwork took around 8-9 hours to complete (only because of the scales!), spread out over a span of several days. This is not counting time taken to ideate and sketch.
