Broken Beauty

Wanted to share my artwork entry for @theartprize emerging artists competition, this is a porcelain doll I have been working on nonstop in the past month- I’m so excited that she’s finally finished! Through this project I wanted to express my opinion about the unattainable ideal of beauty which our society idolizes. In my opinion, this “Barbie” beauty ideal often makes many people and especially young women feel uncomfortable with themselves. I think that in order to make our world a better place to live in, we mustn’t expect people to look according to external beauty codes, but to encourage everyone to feel confident with who they are. 🦋 . Special thanks to @davidscouri for this amazing photography! 📸 . Materials: porcelain, dried glue, mulberry silk, resin
