Mindfield

This was the first sketch I did for a logo for Mindfield.

Mindfield is a rebrand of Wolfman Productions, a Connecticut based agency that represents individuals for professional speaking engagements. Their roster includes a number of known personalities like Adam Savage and Jamie Hyneman of MythBusters, and Charlie Todd of Improv Everywhere.

Wolfman's appeal has to date been mostly in the college market. With Mindfield they hope to make a name for themselves with event planners booking corporate speaking engagements. The name is intentionally provocative.

My first thought was to pursue an illustrated approach to this logo (I'm deliberately looking to include more illustration in my design). My goal is a Steven Guarnaccia style of drawing. I'm very much on the fence about this. Is it too "Kilroy Was Here"? Is it making light of land mines? I don't think so. Is illustration something that might alienate a more corporate clientele?
