After research, I found out that beetroot juice can affect a sportsman the same way as doping can. First it has a resistance enhancing value. But more important, beet juice can allow hemoglobin in the blood to transfer more oxygen, which can be beneficial for sport performances. In that way this innocent drink can be seen as a semi legal drug, to be hidden in the glass department within the bottle.
