A visual travel journey on Instagram - A clean, new look

THE CHALLENGE

To create a stunning Instagram feed for travel startup Roomorama and earn new followers.

THE SOLUTION

Upon returning from a trip to Oman, I was inspired to share my travel images with close friends. So after months of persuasion and procrastination, I started @elsewhre, my personal Instagram account. Thus began my experiments with the style of images, photo manipulation and filters on VSCO. After deciding on the perfect filter, exposure and saturation, I was ready to get on the IG grid.

My next step was to curate a feed for Roomorama that would inspire the art of travel and display their product. Roomorama’s goal was to share its brand commitment with travel-savvy millennials - whose choice of holiday almost entirely depends on 76,000 other people - their Instagram followers.

The insta-cation

Drawing inspiration from various travel Instagram accounts (@cerealmag and @madewithmap), I gave directions to my team of one - (Gracie) to source Instagram for crowdsourced imagery that features a clean colour palette of architecture and cityscapes. Making a creative decision to limit the property images, this made the Roomorama product blend seamlessly into the community's organic Instagram feed.

THE GLORY

The Instagram rebranding was hugely successful. Roomorama’s Instagram followers grew organically from 3.5K to 11.7K in a short space of 3 months. The campaign successfully drove message association and brand favorability in a highly-competitive space for travel visuals.
