夏/xià/: summer
In the earliest form, it was combined 日 (“sun”) + form of people – means a man under the scorching sun; that is summer. As it changed gradually, it became the form 夏. However，you can treat the 目 as 日，which is easier to understand. The bottom part is the same as top part of (winter).
