Friendly Reminder
I took this photo last winter on my regular drive home. It was the same route I had always taken, the same mountainside I’ve always seen, yet it was different that day. Every time I look at this photo — the snow covered rock bringing new beauty to the monotonous view that I’ve come to expect over the years, the empty roadway that is usually packed with cars, and the layer of snow that is fairly uncommon for Birmingham — I’m reminded to look at the little moments in-between and the details of even the mundane. I’m reminded of the fact that something as simple as an average car ride home can hold new inspiration, breathe a new energy into what surrounds you, and help to curb the feeling of complacency that can emerge from time to time.
