Marin Bikes - Spec Exploration
Often times as designers we are fenced in, whether that be by client, timeline, budget, politics, etc. Im not saying this negatively, because sometimes those parameters often force some of the best creativity. But often times the work becomes the outcome of everyone one involved and is subject to so much feedback and personal initiatives. I wanted to start a design project with our team here @Magnetic Creative where we could all explore without limitations. We pick the subject and we are free to explore any sort of design. For this initial project I picked Marin Bikes as the subject, they have amazing bikes but their website felt a little neglected. The team could take and run in any direction as long as it was for Marin. Homepage comp, team page, product landing page, navigation, etc. This was a homework assignment to do a quick design exploration. No site map or wireframes, rules or requirements, but spend a few hours and pump something out.
I chose to do a product landing experience. I have been pushing myself to think more from a motion and animation perspective lately, and have been diving back into after effects for the purpose of prototyping. So with this comp I kept design pretty simple but plan to animate the product landing experience. Ill follow up with a rebound once I have the prototype animation done.
