Owl brand mark (Waddle)

I've been drawing and playing in Sketch, creating an owl brand mark. I'm a lifelong Sheffield Wednesday (aka The Owls) supporter. The owl crest seen to the top-left was used by The Owls from 1973–1995 and 1999–2016. It means a lot to me, and since the new company (more on that soon) is owl-related and personal, The Owls crest was my main inspiration.

Shown here are a few iterations. A contemporary twist on the original. Owls can look intimidating, I wanted this brand mark to be friendly, cute and playful. The colours used in the final brand mark are different, but I thought it was fun to keep the colours, for this shot, faithful to The Owls. I'll post the final mark soon!

P.S. We named the owl 'Waddle'. We wanted a gender neutral name, and I selfishly wanted a name related to Sheffield Wednesday, in-keeping with The Owls inspiration. 'Waddle' is named after Chris Waddle, my favourite player, a boyhood hero, and one of the greatest players to wear the famous blue & white stripes.

More soon.
