Mobile Streaming on Hulu Case Study

There are 75.4 million Millenials in America and according to a recent study by Business Insider, 37% of Millenials use Hulu. Likely, most of those Millenials have smartphones. As our smartphone screens are getting larger, using our favorite streaming services on our phones is becoming more and more appealing.

With such a large user base, you would expect Hulu’s mobile streaming app to be up to par with big contenders like Netlix, yet the app is rated 1.7 stars in the App Store.

I investigated the problem through a process of four phases:

Discovery: research and personas.

Define + Analyze: pain points and prioritize needs.

Ideate + Create: prototype solutions.

Validate: testing and iteration.

Note: I do not work for or am affiliated with Hulu. This is a passion project.
