The Village

Some original branding for Columbus's German Village district.

German Village was founded by immigrants in the early 1800s and supported the city's German-run breweries until Prohibition when, with combined with anti-German sentiment following the Great War, it began to diminish.

After WW2, the area fell into disrepair and was labeled a slum by the city and zoned for industry.

One man, Frank Fetch, saw history and beauty in the brick rowhouses and European-style storefronts and began to rehabilitate the community by founding the German Village Society in 1974.

Now it stands as among the wealthiest property values in the city and is home to thriving small businesses and folk from all walks of life.

My design is a nod to the historic German heraldic eagle and Blackletter along with the modernist early-70s when GV was redeveloped.

Do you need something designed in this style or know of someone who does? Shoot me an email and let's get to work.
