Joy album cover

A while ago I made a set of nature inspired illustrations for the covers of a series of albums by Kirtan Raga. They're a musical collective seeking to modernize and popularize the practice of kirtan – an ancient tradition encompassing music, meditation, religious devotion and social gathering.

With the album covers, we wanted to convey emotions that are associated with kirtan but can still be relatable from a non-religious standpoint. I chose to represent each emotion with a scene from nature.
This cover depicts a banyan tree by a lake during in the early morning. I chose banyan tree leaves as subtle decorations for the CD itself.
