Karanas

An exploration of the "Karanas" or movements that make-up the frame work for pan-Indian classical dance styles, such as Bharathanatyam, which are meant to spiritually "enlighten" the spectator, as opposed to purely entertain.

Illustrated here, is the form of Lord Shiva as Nataraja (the king of dance), displaying 4 out of the 108 types of Karanas, or key movements of dance.
