Audubon Hotel

The Audubon Hotel. 1225 St. Charles Avenue, New Orleans, Louisiana. Built c. 1940.

Built as a hotel to cater to the captains and deckhands of Mississippi River boats, the Audubon Hotel has been a Central City landmark since its beginning. During its many years on St. Charles, the bottom floor has housed the original Bamboo Dance Club as well as the Audubon Club.

The long vacant hotel has been purchased and is in the process of renovations to become a "poshtel" -- a combination hotel and hostel, complete with bar.
