For the past few months I've been polishing up a custom typeface for NASCAR. The season starts on Sunday with the Daytona 500, and the type will be on TV spots and promotional materials throughout the year.
It's a modern, industrial display face with four variations; the italic version is used throughout NASCAR's 2016 'Ready. Set. Race' campaign and is – you guessed it – supposed to convey speed and motion. It was cooked up from scratch with inspiration from the original NASCAR logotype.
