SaaS Portal For Patient Doctor Interaction

I worked on this interesting SaaS portal concept that empowers doctors to deliver superior care while fostering a more collaborative and efficient patient-doctor relationship. This platform leverages design heuristics and the IBM Design Thinking approach to create a seamless and efficient experience for both doctors and patients.

Understanding User Needs :-

Effective doctor-patient communication is crucial for successful treatment plans and improved patient outcomes. However, traditional communication methods can be time-consuming and inefficient.

Design Thinking in Action :-

1. User Research & Empathy

  • Conducted interviews and workshops with doctors and patients to understand their pain points regarding communication and patient monitoring.

  • Key findings revealed a need for a centralized platform that facilitates efficient communication, real-time patient health monitoring, and a clear overview of patient well-being.

2. Prioritizing User Experience

  • Patient Overview (RHS): Gain a comprehensive view of patient health and well-being on the right-hand side (RHS). This includes vital information gathered through patient-answered questionnaires regarding nutrition, physical activity, sleep, and medication adherence, all presented in an easily digestible format within the "Overview" tab.

  • Patient Management (LHS): Manage your patient load effectively using the left-hand side (LHS) panel. This section displays a list of patients, with a visual halo system utilizing red, orange, and green colors to represent patient well-being severity at a glance.

  • Patient Search & Monitoring: Effortlessly search for patients by name, MRN (Medical Record Number), or mobile number. Once a patient is selected, monitor their health progress and chat with them directly within the platform.

3. Efficient Communication Workflow

  • Initial Nurse-Patient Interaction: The platform facilitates an initial communication channel between the patient and a nurse. Nurses can address simpler concerns, while more complex cases are seamlessly transferred to the relevant specialist doctor for further guidance.

  • Secure Chat Functionality: Doctors and patients can engage in secure and HIPAA-compliant chat conversations directly within the platform. This eliminates the need for external communication channels and fosters a more efficient exchange of information.

4. Tailored Patient Information

  • Tabbed Navigation: Navigate seamlessly through patient information using dedicated tabs at the top of the platform. These tabs include 'Overview', 'Glucose & Insulin' and 'Medications', allowing doctors to view specific data sets quickly with a simple toggle.

  • Glucose & Insulin Analysis (Tab): This tab presents a detailed tabular view of the patient's blood glucose levels (before and after meals), insulin administration details, and highlights any severe readings in red for immediate attention. Doctors can switch between a visual graph and a table based on their preference and easily adjust the date range for a comprehensive picture of the patient's glucose control.

5. User Control & Flexibility

  • View Toggling: Doctors have the flexibility to toggle between the table and graph view of blood glucose data to suit their analysis needs.

  • Date Range Adjustment: The platform allows doctors to adjust the date range displayed in the "Glucose & Insulin" tab, providing a historical context for patient data analysis.

  • Chat Closure: Doctors can close a chat conversation when the patient's concern has been addressed, streamlining workflow and communication history.
