12/32 – Charlotte Royals Uniforms

Behind the Stitches

Timelessness reigns supreme when it comes to the uniforms for the Charlotte Royals.

The helmet, a metallic gold, incorporates a single royal blue stripe with a thin white stroke that tapers to a point at the crown of the helmet. The primary roaring lion is displayed on either side of the lid, with "Royals" on the front bumper and "Charlotte" on the back.

The Royals have two jerseys – a royal blue top for home games and a white top away. Each jersey has a contrasting collar and sleeve stripes that taper at both the front and back of the shoulder. The sleeves are occupied by the TV numbers, resulting in a rather clean and simple jersey design.

The pants – with gold, royal blue, and white sets – have a single mono-width stripe that follow the length of the leg. On the gold set, the stripe mimics the helmet with a thin white stroke. On the blue set this stripe is solid gold while the white set is solid blue. The statant lion secondary mark is also embroidered on each hip.

Charlotte's jersey number set carries out same blackletter-inspired style used in the team typography but in a more reserved manner. While the execution is similar, the letterforms have more Roman-like cues that evoke a luxe appeal.

These mockups were made with a modified and retextured Madden 20 on PC. The in-game screenshots were then used to create a composition in Photoshop.
