Juneteenth 2024 Patch

This is my second year to work on a shirt design for the Fort Worth Fire Department to be worn on Juneteenth. Last year's concept was to lean more into the Texas side of the conversation and the origin of June 19th being a day that marks the real end of slavery. For this year, I felt compelled to have the design be driven by elements of the African continent, specifically the western coast. With that, I went with the country of Senegal, and utilized their flag as the base of this design, along with adding traditional patterns and elements found in Ankara fabrics. So the idea then became, what would the standard Fort Worth patch look like if it was done in the look and energy of a Senegal fire station.
