Interactive 3D Keyboard

Time to explore

At the start of this year, I decided to tackle some fun side projects, hoping to get familiar with all the new tools out there – and it looks like there's a whole bunch of them.

The buzz in 3D design has definitely ramped up, especially with Apple rolling out their VR headset. It feels like, sooner or later, we product designers might need to get our hands dirty with some 3D skills.

It's not about mastering the creation of complex 3D objects for all of us, but rather about experimenting with it, getting comfortable with this multi-dimensional digital space, and exploring fresh avenues.

So here I am, and this is my first project of the year. It's not groundbreaking, but I sure had a great time making it.

👋🏻 Fun fact: The keyboard in this project is interactive – you can actually trigger it by pressing the keys on your own keyboard. It's not on autopilot.

Backstage

I always enjoy seeing creators pull back the curtain to reveal how their final works take shape. So, I'm sharing a few snapshots that capture the behind-the-scenes of this project. I decided to use Spline. It's a friendly middle ground between Blender's complexity and Maya's high-end capabilities. What I love most about it is its straightforward & no-fuss approach, making it a solid pick for newcomers like me.
