Day #013 - Direct Message

(1rst Version Below) UPDATE : I decided to redesign this direct messaging application as part of my continuous quest for improvement. Thanks to thorough self-critique, I identified some mistakes on my part.

1. The navigation bar and shortcuts were not suitable. I relocated the settings button to the top, as I believe it is less frequently used, and placed the shortcut for a new message at the bottom right, closer to the thumb.

2. I minimized the tab bar 'chats calls live,' which didn't need to be as prominent. I darkened the background for more contrast, ensuring that the unselected options, deliberately lowered in opacity, remain easily readable and accessible.

3. I altered the appearance of online users, opting for a more distinctive approach. Instead of a small green dot, I transformed the entire border of the profile picture into green with surrounding shadows, creating a luminous effect.

4. I also reduced the left and right padding because 30 pixels were truly unnecessary, and all messages appeared centered. Now, they occupy the entire space, with photos aligned to the left, maintaining a sufficient 10-pixel margin all around.

1rst V:

Here's my take on a direct messaging application, akin to WhatsApp.

Users can send and receive text messages, as well as make audio and video calls.

In the first mockup, at the top of the screen, there's a search bar and two shortcuts: one for accessing the user's profile where they can add a status, and the other for composing a new message.

At the bottom, the navigation bar allows access to all conversations (with the option to switch between chats and call logs), the contact list, or settings.

Inspiration-wise, I drew ideas from various designs on Dribbble, particularly those tagged #DailyUI 013.

I love the glassmorphism effect and have a fondness for sunsets, explaining my choice of background and color.

As a beginner, I'm eagerly awaiting constructive feedback to help me grow, so please feel free to share your thoughts. Thank you!
