Robot Game Pieces Concept

In final year of university I wanted to design a board game that placed emphasis on toys, strategy and the importance of teamwork. I decided to make a ‘game concept pack’ that could be used in a presentation to a game manufacturer to be taken forward. The final pack included the box, outer packaging, instructions, a spinner, sample 'danger' and 'action' cards and a holder to keep them in.

I studied game boxes and strayed from the typical flat square, favouring the look of a traditional hat box albeit octagonal. The box was handmade and black with coloured stripes to accent the octagonal shape. Purple rope is used for the handle in the lid and around where the lid meets the body to accentuate a soft close and a tactile experience.

The rope handle is the only part of the box visible from the outer packaging. It functions as a carry system so a bag isn't necessary for a customer, and the outside is paper which folds outwards flap by flap to reveal the box sitting neatly in the middle.
