Red-Necked Phalarope

#feathruary Day 13: (Galentines) Red-Necked Phalarope. I saw one of these beautiful females in the wild for the first time last year. I was out paddle boarding with my friend on a local reservoir in UT, and while we were floating I was noting all the birds that were out and about. At one point, I was sitting on the board as quiet and still as I could be and the little phalarope let me float within 6 feet of her (about a boards length away). I sat like that for at least 10 min before she realized she had other things to do that day and flew off. I then went back to join up with my friend and paddle around some more.
