Spot Illustrations—Makeshift Magazine

Two more spot illustrations for the most recent issue of Makeshift Magazine, Issue 13: Healing. I love working for makeshift because they have such interesting stories to tell. The spot on the right is called "The Powder of Sympathy" - it's about how in medieval times they believed in this thing called "Sympathetic Magic". This meant that if you were wounded by a particualr blade, you could pour this magic mixture (made of ground up mummy parts and other mystical stuff) onto the offending weapon, and through sympathetic magic, your wound would heal!

Full project coming soon.
