Svarecky-obchod.cz - eCommerce Redesign

I don't often discuss this project, but it's time to shed some light on one of my most significant redesign projects, backed by real data collected from customers of Czech and Slovak stores. Allow me to introduce you to this case study.

Client Background

Svarecky-obchod.cz stands as one of the largest eCommerce providers, specializing in the sale of welding and shed tools. This client doesn't solely operate online; they also maintain physical showrooms across the Czech and Slovak regions, offering customers the opportunity to explore and purchase a wide range of products.

The Challenge

Our client was grappling with an outdated system that couldn't keep pace with their growth ambitions and the demands of the market. While their stores possessed a treasure trove of customer data, it wasn't being effectively leveraged in the online arena.

The Solution

Rather than tampering with the well-established brand identity of the store, we chose to enhance the purchasing experience itself. Our approach was grounded in the following steps:

  1. User Experience Enhancement: Working closely with UX experts, we identified key areas for improvement and introduced subtle but impactful changes to the eCommerce experience. Our goal was to create a more modular system, empowering developers and web managers to implement future changes with greater ease.

  2. Design System Implementation: We developed an extensive library of custom icons, design elements, and components to ensure consistency across both desktop and mobile platforms.

  3. Mobile-First Approach: Recognizing the significant portion of customers making purchases on mobile devices, we prioritized the mobile experience, optimizing it for those on the go.

  4. Comprehensive Figma Assets: We provided a Figma source file containing over 50 desktop and mobile breakpoints. These covered essential eCommerce pages such as Checkout, Product Listings, and Details, while also catering to finer details like custom landing pages, membership features, and the Customer Dashboard Panel.

Results After 3 Years

Our solution yielded remarkable outcomes:

  • Sales Increase: The client experienced a notable boost in sales, with a 16% overall increase.

  • Mobile Sales Surge: Mobile sales saw a remarkable 31% increase, aligning with the growing trend of mobile commerce.

  • Loyal Customer Growth: The introduction of membership features led to a 24% increase in recurring customers, signifying improved trustworthiness and customer loyalty.

  • Positive Reviews: The store's reputation soared, becoming one of the highest-rated stores in the Czech and Slovak markets, based on customer reviews.

In conclusion, this case study showcases how a strategic focus on user experience, a mobile-first approach, and the implementation of a comprehensive design system can result in substantial improvements for an eCommerce provider, leading to increased sales and customer satisfaction.
